Frequently Asked Questions

  • I’ll guide you on how to prepare, but generally, you don’t need to do anything special. Focus on areas with good natural light, like near windows or in rooms with soft, even lighting. I’ll work with whatever your home has to offer and capture the beauty of your space as it is. A tidy home is always nice, but the focus will be on your family’s connections, not perfection

  • Color Coordination:

Pick a palette of three or four colors that work well together for dressing your family. Start with one person—typically the mama—and design everyone's outfit to complement each other rather than just matching.

    The Importance of Color:

Color choice is vital to ensure your family's outfits don't become too distracting and the colors you choose play a huge part in that.

Aim for neutral or earthy colors. This doesn't mean you're stuck with just beige and browns; every color has its muted tones. Think along the lines of deep blues, forest greens, earthy reds, mustard yellows, teals, emeralds, burnt oranges, mauves, and plums. Avoid bright neon colors, vivid pinks, corals, oranges and bright reds as they can look odd in photos.

For your family photo session, selecting a harmonious color scheme is crucial to ensure everyone looks cohesive yet distinct. Here's a guide to help you choose outfits that complement each other beautifully, using a palette inspired by nature's tones.

    Color Palette:

Teal, Moss green, Rust, Mustard yellow, Light brown, Beige, Olive green, Cream

    Avoid Matching:

Instead of dressing everyone in the exact same color, use these tones to complement each other. For instance, if one person wears navy, another could wear white or sage green.

    Textures and Patterns:

Mix textures like linen and cotton and subtle patterns like knit sweaters can add interest without clashing with the color scheme.ere

  • This is a question I get asked often, and I’m always excited to share that the beauty of newborn photography is that it can happen anywhere in your home. The kitchen? Yes, please! The backyard? Absolutely! Your bedroom? Perfect. Even the hallway works. Your home is where the magic of family life unfolds, and every space holds a unique story. It’s all about capturing the moments that matter to you, no matter where they happen.

  • The best time for outdoor family photos is typically during the “golden hour,” which is the 90 minutes  after sunrise or the 90 minutes  before sunset. During these times, the light is soft, warm, and flattering, creating a beautiful, natural glow. This lighting is ideal for capturing relaxed, intimate moments. Midday, when the sun is high, can create harsh shadows and bright spots, so it’s best to avoid that time if possible.
